C.A.R.E Groups

communityOur shared vision at New Beginnings Church is best expressed through the following statement, “Reaching the world for Jesus, one person at a time.”

We have adopted and support this vision, by the command of Jesus Christ, given to us in Matthew 28:16-20.  We believe that our Biblical mandate to share the Gospel, in an effort to make disciples who make disciples, is best facilitated through small groups. We refer to our small groups as C.A.R.E. Groups.

Connecting All Reaching Everyone

It is through our CARE Groups that intimate, accountable relationships are developed, for the purpose of discipleship. In our CARE Groups we are demonstrating the love of Christ working through each of us, as we help one another meet the various needs within His church body. These needs may be many fold; financial, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and/or psychological. Whatever the case, CARE Groups provide a safe place for people to meet, explore The Word of God, and support one another in The Spirit of Truth and Love.

We use the following acronym to help us identify our maturity in walking with God. Share, Connect, Minister, Disciple, each of these are different stages of discipleship development in our spiritual growth.

S.C.M.D.
Share, Connect, Minister, Disciple

SCMD helps us to identify the traits and phases of real Discipleship, literally what it means in walking as a disciple of Jesus.

In the SHARE phase we are just beginning, we are Spiritual Infants. Some of the traits we exhibit demonstrate this.  For instance, we might struggle with who Jesus is. We might be confused about “Truth.” We might say, “I don’t need church.” Or “I am a good person… that
counts right?” Or we might say, “I wish I had someone to help me make sense of all this stuff.” This is the SHARE phase.

In the CONNECT phase we are Spiritual Children.  Some of the traits we exhibit also demonstrate this. For instance we might struggle with spending time with God.  You might find yourself wondering how to build relationships with others. This is where you take your first steps as a Spiritual Child of Jesus and say, “I want to grow beyond where I am,” so you make it to a CARE Group for the first time.

You might say things like, “I love this church because I feel like I belong.” Or, “I think this accountability thing will be good for me.” Or, “My CARE Group really loves me, and I feel welcome there.”  In both the SHARE and CONNECT phase we are prone to focus more on what “I” want then on what God wants and the needs of others.

In the MINISTER phase we are Spiritual Young Adults.  Here in this phase we are outwardly focused; unconditionally looking to meet the needs of others.  You are ministering because it is spiritually who you have grown into.  You might say things like, “I want to serve anywhere there is a need within the church body so that others can be a part of worship service.”  You have made relationships with Christ and others within your CARE Group the priority in your life.

In the DISCIPLE phase we are Spiritual Parents because we have led or are leading others to Jesus and they have accepted Jesus to be their Savior and Lord. Now you are committed to helping others understand the different phases of the Discipleship process from the SHARE to the CONNECT and MINISTER phases.

You are committed to helping others reach their potential by, “Making disciples that make disciples.” A Disciple might say, “I am purposely praying for and leading 1-10 people a year to Jesus.  Then I will help them to be intentional about the discipleship process, SCMD.”
